Old Shoes

Old shoes old shoes I thought you were dead
Beside the wooden door there you rest
You were ignored, shunned and treated like a rat

You lived in many cities
You witnessed many conflicts
Green, black, checkered or white
Old shoes you bring back forgotten memories

The future looks grey
Do we live for the moment?
The dead will remain dead
Old shoes you shall live again

Hands wrinkled from the scrubbing
The cleaning the bleaching the sweating
Restoration is an art like everything else
Do I do it exceptionally well?

A miracle, a recovery, old shoes you are clean!
Not as pure as a newborn baby but old shoes smile again

Dog-eaten up shoes my lovers I grieve for you
Shoes like cats can die nine times
Old shoes old shoes let's start afresh again
milk bottle

In the peaceful town of Kluang you rest, a face I no longer recognise.
I have always been frightened of you, how you smeared saliva below my nose.
You were dead ever since I was eight, twenty years have passed and now I have to kill you again.

You lay behind the altar, I see your portrait, but it's nothing more than a stranger.
This stranger I used to pray who will repeal.
And change you did not, and it crunched my heart into two.

I kneeled and prayed to the background of Taoist chantings.
Rantings, rantings, rantings.
But I said, I do, I do, I do.
The tears I shed were stolen from a crocodile.
You made your bed and I am glad you looked peaceful.

So stranger, stranger, I am finally through.
If I murdered a man, now I have slaughtered two.

"Would You Like To Hear A Story?"

Hey Baz,

Thanks to cowie, I managed to obtain two tickets to your latest film, Australia, last Monday.

It was my most anticipated film of the year (actually since Moulin Rouge!) and I am sad to say, it is very, very pretty to look at, but I was tad disappointed.

Number one - if you want a romantic epic to work, produce a decent, if not, memorable score that brainwashes minds and stays in their heart.

Number two - do not complicate the romance with too many sub plots, and never, never name a film after a country, in one word no less. It gives people too high an expectation and chances are, you're unlikely to create a world people (or Americans) are particularly interested in.

Number three - you can always borrow references, but please be original or at least avoid corny statements (i.e. Nicole: "we can't let them win", Hugh: "We won't").

If this film has had more time to edit and re-scored, it will be SO much better.

Oh, and I forgot, most people have ADHD nowadays so a 2hr 45min film is really not economical nor appealing.

But... ... ...

I still love it. I love you for being so romantic and ambitious and it IS obviously a labour of love. And for that, Australia is my favourite film of the year.

Who cares about the oscars?

Your avid fan,

When you say nothing at all

Deleting journal accounts used to be in vogue. Some users do so to prevent themselves from being reminded of a painful (or embarrassing) past. Some choose to close their journals to open a new one as part of a rebranding exercise. No longer feeling the need to click on the "delete journal" button, I am now in a new phase. The dry phase.

Wondering why I can't seem to pen down my thoughts anymore, I take a quick trip down memory lane and realise that they can be grouped in the following categories.

1. Shameless rambling about one's daily activities and feelings written with bad style (Does anyone care?)

2. Public display of affections and obsessions (Dogs, Cow and BOP Nicole Kidman)

3. Personal attacks on people who don't have an account

4. Photos, Photos, Photos (The more scandalous, the more comment worthy)

5. Resolutions (that never came true)

6. Movie reviews

7. Quotes, quotes and more quotes (What you can't create, you borrow)

8. Advertising platforms

9. And rarely, political statements (I don't believe in the democratic nor the republican, I just believe in parties)

My mom says that if you've got nothing better to say, don't say. "No one will think you are dumb if you keep your mouth shut."

Who cares what mommy says, it's time to start writing :)

Few years down the road I need this journal to remind myself what the hell I was doing.
